Parasol Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2026
Parasol is built to know as little about you as possible. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party SDKs.
Location
When you allow it, Parasol reads your location while the app is open to fetch the UV forecast. Only the coordinates, rounded to roughly ten metres, are sent to the weather provider [Open-Meteo](https://open-meteo.com). Your last coordinates are kept on the device so background refreshes can rebuild your alerts. Parasol never tracks your location in the background and never sends it anywhere else.
Apple Health
If you connect Apple Health, Parasol reads one data type: **Time in Daylight**, which your Apple Watch records. It is used on your device to estimate how much UV you were exposed to. Health data is never written, uploaded, shared or used for advertising, in line with Apple's HealthKit rules.
Notifications
Alerts are scheduled locally on your device from the forecast. No push-notification service is involved.
Storage
Your settings (UV limit, skin type), the last forecast and the day's alert state are stored on your device only and are removed when you delete the app.
Weather data
Forecasts come from Open-Meteo, licensed [CC BY 4.0](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/). Their privacy policy applies to the requests Parasol makes to their servers.
